Vilaco joins a tree-planting event marking 113 years of International Women's Day, 8/3/1910 - 8/3/2023

The tree planting was organised by the Standing Board of the district Women's Union and the district Businesswomen's Club together with the Party Committee, People's Committee and Women's Union of An Tien commune at 8am on 3 March, marking 113 years of International Women's Day on 8 March and 1,983 years since the uprising of the Trung Sisters.

International Women's Day on 8 March is a day for honouring women and showing them affection and respect. In the past, in the present and in the future, women are an indispensable part of society and make an enormous contribution to it.

8 March also marks the uprising of the Trung Sisters, the first two national heroines, who drove out the invaders from the north and won back the nation's sovereignty. The uprising of the Trung Sisters is regarded as an immortal epic that embodies the will to independence and the pride of the nation. It also stands as proof of the strength of Vietnamese women in the history of humankind, in the cause of building and defending the country.

In the two wars of resistance against the French and the Americans, women also made no small contribution to the whole nation's victory: from the women of the self-defence militia and the young women who volunteered for the revolution to open the roads, to the grandmothers, mothers and sisters who raised production to serve the resistance, to the Heroic Vietnamese Mothers who treated the soldiers as their own children and were ready to help them, and even to lay down their lives so that our army had its chance of victory.

8 March carries the meaning of honouring and valuing the contribution of Vietnamese women "Heroic – Indomitable – Loyal – Capable".

Here are some pictures from the tree planting by the women of Vilaco, under the theme "Project: women nurturing the future". The event was warmly taken up by the staff of Vilaco JSC. Organising a tree planting does not only further the movement to plant trees and grow forests; it also protects the ecological environment and protects our own lives. Planting trees also brings benefits to the landscape, to society and humanity, and others besides, just as Uncle Ho taught in his lifetime: "Planting trees costs little but brings much benefit".
