HOW TO KEEP CLOTHES FRAGRANT WHATEVER THE WEATHER

As the wet season arrives with damp weather and little sun, mould gets the chance to thrive, especially on clothes. Even the finest perfume cannot cover the musty smell of the outfit you are wearing. 

1. Use fabric softener

As well as adding fragrance, fabric softener keeps clothes from wearing and tearing so quickly. With a machine wash, be sure to pour the fabric softener into the correct softener compartment. Do not let softener touch clothes directly, because undiluted it will damage certain fabrics.

2. Iron your clothes

This is the most common way to clear the musty smell from clothes during rainy, stormy weather. A useful tip is to add a few drops of essential oil to a steam iron so clothes come out dry, airy and fragrant.

3. Used coffee grounds

After making coffee, do not throw the grounds away straight off — dry them, put them in a small fabric bag and hang it in the wardrobe. Coffee is very rich in minerals such as phosphorus, potassium and magnesium, along with other acids, and absorbs moisture very well. 4. Soak in rice water

For mouldy clothes, industrial bleaches are very harmful and easily damage the fabric. More simply, soak them in rice water overnight for around 6-7 hours, then wash them again with detergent. The vitamin PP in rice water lifts the dirt and mould clinging to clothes.

You should also do the washing more often and avoid leaving dirty clothes in a pile in a damp place, which gives mould the conditions to grow.
